In this role, you will be responsible for supporting Labcorp’s position as an Industry leader in the support of Precision Medicine-driven clinical trials through drug and companion diagnostic co-development. The business scope for this position is primarily focused on Companion Diagnostics but also includes Complimentary Diagnostics and In Vitro Diagnostic Devices. The Scientific Director will partner with many segments across the LabCorp Business Enterprise including Central Laboratories and LabCorp Diagnostics.
In support of the Commercial organization, the Director will promote Labcorp’s diagnostics development and co-development capabilities through client and external scientific meetings to help grow the project and business portfolio. The Director will support the development and prompt delivery of proposals to prospective clients and support the Commercial organization in achieving commercial success.
In more details, you will…
- Partners with internal stakeholders and functional leads across Central Labs and other LabCorp Business Units.
- Helps identify operational gaps and develop strategies with key stakeholders to ensure operational efficiency.
- Helps coordinate diagnostics related projects both within Central Laboratories and across Labcorp
- Supports prompt delivery of proposals to prospective Clients
- Monitors progress of pending awards and supports commercial Organization in achieving the targeted WIN rate
- Monitors progress of awarded studies.
- Provides objective input on operational issues to support continuous improvement,
- Partners with Commercial segments of Labcorp to develop and foster client relationships to win new and repeat business.
- Interfaces with Pharma Clients to ensure a clear understanding of Labcorp Drug Development’s CDx co-development business model, capabilities, and experience.
- Interfaces with third party diagnostic partners to ensure a clear understanding of Labcorp Drug Development’s CDx co-development business model, capabilities, and experience. Acts as an advocate for both Labcorp Drug Development and its IVD partners to foster a strong collaborative relationship.
- Develops and maintains a broad, in-depth understanding of the external technical landscape in medical diagnostics including the regulatory framework around IVD and CDx development and commercialization.
- Represents Labcorp Drug Development at external scientific meetings.

Required Experience:
- Previous experience in drug development and clinical diagnostic development.
- Experience in presenting at external scientific meetings.
- Ability to provide strategic, scientific, and technical guidance regarding diagnostic product development.
- Strong knowledge of the global IVD market.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional communicator at all levels-with customers, employees, and market influencers. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Skilled in time management & planning.
Minimum Education Required:
- Ph.D., MS degree in biochemistry, molecular genetics, or related field; or equivalent industry experience in drug development and in vitro diagnostics.
